A lack of diligence when shopping for your car insurance could lead to a hefty monthly bill, as well as headaches if you actually need to file a claim. We researched and explored quotes from over 128 companies in 2,700 cities to determine which insurers had the lowest costs, nationally and in each state. Customers aren’t very impressed by Liberty Mutual’s claims process or payouts. It’s ranked among “the rest” in J.D. Power’s survey, which falls at the bottom of the scale. We examined each insurer’s financial stability, using ratings from A.M. Best, to determine whether each insurer would have enough financial resources to pay off expensive claims. We also looked at customer service ratings from industry leaders J.D. Power and Consumer Reports, evaluating customers’ overall experience with each insurer and their satisfaction with the claims process. Though each provider has its own strengths and weaknesses, we recommend obtaining multiple quotes from different insurers before making your decision.
